"Tip Top" was 19 months old when he made his debut at Cork. Beaten first time out, he rocketed up next time out in a sensational 29.18. He was switched to the 575 yards and won in 32.56 and flying 31.93. He was laid off for the early months of 1994 to mature.

His first race of the year was a Shelbourne 575 top heat event. He soon led and pulled away for a six length win in 31.88.
He went through the Guiness 600 unbeaten, the final was between six "w" seeds and Tip Top was far from the best drawn in three. Nevertheless all seemed to be going well as he marginally led at the first turn. But he was crowded at the first bend and narrowly lost his lead to Deerfield Pier, but he re-took the lead at the third bend and held on for a four length win in 33.16.
He then started in a 500 open at the recently opened Ballyskeagh track wich he won in a brilliant 32.98 for 600 yards. Sadly the race was to mark the end of Tip Top's carrer. A shock elimination from the Ceasarewititch and Champion Stakes, after recording 30.36 in a 550 yard trial, he was found to have a wrist injury wich forced him to miss the Derby.

He ran a 29.16 for Shelbourne's 525 yards in his comeback trial three months later, and then followed up with a 32.02 for the 575. For most dogs, it would have been an outstanding performace. For Tip Top it was a couple of lengths down on his puppy form at a time, still short of his thrid birthday, when he should have been reaching his peak.

He was retired after his next defeat with a career record of 21 races -
10 wins
(
2 seconds and 3 thirds) he only raced in Ireland.
