Little
Angeline won a Champion Bitch Stake and broke a 550 track record at Thurles and Limber
Hill (Garage Stake).
Little Angeline is a full sister to Live Contender who won Nickey Racard Memorial at
Enniscorthy.
Live Contender lowered Adraville Bridge track record to 28.50 for 525 yards in the Cork
trialstake when he was only 21 months old.
He returned in April 1991 for the Produce Stakes. He was a red hot favorite to win out and
duly landed his first heat by seven lengths from Mottobee in 28.80. He then beat
Siostaloir by six in 29.40 (.40 slow). In the quarter finals they finished in the same
order though this time the winner did 29.30. In the semis, Contender clocked 28.86. - the
other was won by Siosatloir in 29.02. In the decider Contender beat Super Hoffman by two
and a half in 28.90. Unfortunately, Contender was injured in a trial shortly afterwards
and retired with a ca5rd showing 13 wins from 14 races, the last was run at the age of two
years and two months.
